On Monday, Tami had her weekly check-up. During her check-up, Dr. Shari noticed Tami and the baby's fluid level were a little low. Considering we were so close to the due date, the decision was made to induce Tami.
We went into the hospital at 9:00 am on Tuesday morning. Tami was given cytotec at around 10:00 am ( cytotec creates contractions and thins out the cervix).
Tami was given another dose of cytotec and the contractions became more and more fierce, but still she was only dilated to 1 cm.
At around 3:00 am, after hours of harsh contractions, we made he decision to get an epidural. This turned out to be a great choice. Tami was able to get some sleep to get ready for the delivery.
At 6:30 am, Tami's cervix was checked again. This time she was only dilated to two cm. We were very disappointed at this point. We figured she would be at least 4 or 5 cm.
Dr. Shari made the decision to do amnio-infusion, which adds fluid to the placenta. This turned out to be a good thing. Meanwhile, Dr. Shari went home to get ready for the day after generously spending the night at the hospital for Tami's sake.
At 7:30, Tami's cervix was checked again, and this time she was at 9 cm. We both though the nurse was joking, but thankful not. Tami would soon be pushing!
In the meantime, Dr. Shari was called back to the hospital. She would arrive just in time.
At 8:00 am, Tami made her first push, and by 8:26 am on April 5th, Ella Dawn Clark was born. 6 lbs 7 oz...19 in long. With a hint of blond hair!
